For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
I would tell them to start slow. Never let anyone make you feel rushed or become impatient with you. To allow someone into your heart and mind is a gift, and not everyone deserves that present. Therapy is hard for a lot of people and your relationship with your therapist has to be positive and validating. If it's not, then it's time to find a new therapist that does make you feel like you're making progress, even when you tell yourself you are not.
Your story doesn't end here. You are more than your experiences. I believe that everyone has the ability to heal, and it is my goal to help you find your way back to wellness. Let's start the next chapter together. My therapy approach is that of "Mind, Body, Soul" and believe that all three will influence someone's quality of life. Whether it be someone needing psychotherapy to address past traumatic events or someone who is holding their trauma in their body, everything revolves around alignment. I offer a variety of modalities that address the whole person, not just their mental needs. I offer EMDR for both adults and children both in person and virtually, Play Therapy (in person), and available for BOTH in-person and virtual, Somatic Experiencing, Trauma and Tension Releasing Exercises, and Ketamine Assisted Therapy. For those in Dallas, TX, I will be starting a 90 min. biweekly T.R.E. and "Chakra of the Month" Sound Bath group class. Winding Path Solutions came to me when I was hiking Mt. Rainer. As I was walking and not paying attention, I kept tripping on rocks and tree roots and stumbling on the path. Things like anxiety, depression, loneliness are all those rocks and roots. They make the path more complicated and trickier, but isn't it a great feeling when you've completed the path?

One of my main roles as a therapist is to create a safe and supportive space that best serves YOU. That also happens to be one of my favorite aspects of the therapeutic process - you also get to hold the reins in co-creating our time together. As I believe you are the expert on you, and I am simply the facilitator - helping you create the map for your own unique direction of healing.
Hayley Dodd is a Licensed Mental Health Therapist with extensive experience working with teenagers and adults in both private and non-profit sectors of the mental health field. She specializes in working with clients coping with trauma, issues of loss and change, anxiety, depression, and the essential human tasks of: self-development, growth in relationships, and discovering meaning and purpose. Hayley uses a holistic blend of clinical interventions that incorporate the mind-body connection to help client’s achieve wellness, self-empowerment, and integration of past experiences with present issues and future goals. She can also assist clients in learning practical tools to cope with day-to-day stressors via mindfulness and somatic practices, as well as C.B.T. and D.B.T. techniques. Hayley views the therapeutic relationship as a safe, supportive, and collaborative experience. This foundation allows clients a more in-depth experience with themselves, and their unique path of change, healing, and growth.

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
I feel that many people are hesitant to engage in therapy because they perceive a stigma tied to seeking support. After all, the notion of "mentally ill" does have a negative connotation. The way I see it, though the process is not about fixing a broken thing, but rather enhancing one's alignment and fulfillment (and okay, yes, also confronting obstacles to those pieces). But if the focus is on "Where am I trying to get to and how will I know that I got there?" where our work is to simply close the gap between here and there, it can help us leave shame and judgements at the door, and perhaps even enable you to look forward to increased awareness and empowerment in your journey forward.
I feel that clients shouldn't have to be in therapy forever! While co-creating this process with you, I strive to balance my active listening with imparting active, hands-on techniques to help you reclaim your narrative and overcome obstacles in your path. I feel it's about more water rather than less soda, so to speak, and take both a clinical and holistic approach to helping you enhance alignment and experience deeper fulfillment in your journey. Along with my LCSW, I am trained in EMDR, certified in Theta Healing, Reiki, Transformational Life Coaching, and Therapeutic Touch, and Master Practitioner certified in Neuro Linguistic Programming, Hypnotherapy, and Time Line Therapy.
