I understand that starting therapy can be intimidating, but I want you to know that you don’t have to face your challenges alone. Therapy is a safe space to explore your feelings, gain clarity, and develop the tools you need to live a more fulfilling life. You don’t need to have all the answers—just a willingness to grow, and together we can navigate whatever life throws your way.
Hi there! I'm Akemi, and I've been helping amazing women like you for the past 18 years as a therapist, coach, speaker and author. Think of me as your personal cheerleader, here to support you through the ups and downs of life. I absolutely love working with women who are struggling in their careers, feeling overwhelmed by life's pressures, dealing with anxiety or depression, or just feeling lost. Why? Because I've been there too! I know what it's like to face these challenges, and I'm passionate about helping you navigate them with confidence and grace. As a holistic coach, I focus on helping you renew your mind, body, and spirit. This means we'll work together to create a balanced approach to your well-being. The only prerequisite to work with me is to be ready to do the work and embrace change. I will guide you through the rest: from identifying your goals to developing actionable steps, and providing the support and encouragement you need along the way. You don't have to have everything figured out—just come with an open heart and a willingness to grow, and we will take it from there. It would be my pleasure to support you on your journey. For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
I totally get how awkward and scary it might seem to open up to a stranger! You never have to talk about something you are uncomfortable talking about, and you should never feel like your therapist is judging you or forcing you to do something you aren't ready to do. Always make sure your therapist is someone you feel comfortable with, and if not - try a different therapist. We aren't going to click with everyone, so find a therapist you do click with.
I am a licensed clinical social worker with extensive experience in outpatient therapy and hands-on parenting training. I am trained in EMDR which is a therapeutic model for addressing and treating trauma. I have completed certification programs in Child-Parent Psychotherapy, the Circle of Security-Parenting program, hypnosis, and I have national certification as an adoption competent therapist with the Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E.). Working with women who are experiencing symptoms of anxiety and/or relationship issues is my passion. My goal is to help you to feel understood and validated. I do this by listening to you very carefully, and asking questions to help us figure out what the root cause is for your distress. Once we can identify the root of the issue, we can then figure out how to help you move forward and figure out a plan for facing life’s challenges head on. Many people come to me and tell me that they don’t know where to start or how to explain what’s been going on, and that is totally okay, let the therapist worry about all of that. Let’s work together and figure it out.
