Why is trauma processing important?
Trauma processing is important because difficult experiences can continue to affect how a person feels, thinks, reacts, and connects with others long after the event has passed. When trauma is not processed, it may show up as anxiety, mood changes, sleep problems, emotional overwhelm, avoidance, irritability, or feeling stuck. Trauma processing helps clients safely understand what happened, reduce the intensity of painful memories, and build healthier coping tools so they can feel more grounded, present, and in control of their lives.
I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner providing thoguhtful, personalized mental health care for adults and children navigating busy, high-demand lives. Through a blend of medication management and psychotherapy offered with our LCSW, I help patients find clarity, balance, and lasting improvement in their mental health. My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and tailored to you - whether you're managing ADHD, anxiety, depression, sleep or mood concerns. I specialize in working with professionals, including healthcare workers, first responders, and those in the service industry who are often balancing high stress with limited time. Appointments are primarily offered via secure telehealth for convenience and privacy, with in-person visits available as needed. My goal is to create a supportive, judgement-free space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to move forward.

How do you work with clients with trauma and PTSD?
I help clients safely process traumatic memories while stabilizing the nervous system and reducing reactivity. Using evidence-based methods such as EMDR, trauma-focused CBT, grounding techniques, and emotional regulation strategies, we work to lessen the intensity of triggers, rebuild a sense of safety, and restore healthier patterns of thinking and responding.
I’m Dr. Lisa Palmer, Clinical Director of The Renew Center of Florida, where I provide compassionate, specialized therapy for individuals, couples, and families. Through both in-person sessions and secure virtual care across Florida, I support clients in finding clarity, healing, and meaningful, lasting change. With advanced clinical training and decades of experience, I help adults and teens work through anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, substance use, relationship struggles, life transitions, and stress-related challenges—always with a focus on restoring balance and strengthening emotional well-being. My therapeutic approach is highly personalized. I draw from a broad range of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR, mindfulness-based techniques, trauma-focused interventions, and emotional regulation strategies. Together, we identify the patterns that no longer serve you and develop practical, effective tools to support healthier thoughts, improved coping, and a renewed sense of resilience.

Depending on client interests, in person sessions in Mobile, Alabama may also include using art supplies, exploring symbolism with oracle or tarot cards, incorporating movement with yoga, or going outside to walk in a park or at nearby beaches at the Gulf of Mexico. Many people fly in for therapy and combine it with a vacation. Intensives are a minimum of 3 hours to a maximum of 7 hours in one or more days. Many people will schedule a 4 hour morning session followed by an afternoon at the beach and repeat that for two or three days. Intensives can be during the weekday or on weekend.
