How do you work with clients with anxiety?
When working with anxiety, I use art therapy and somatic awareness to help you externalize racing thoughts and reconnect with a sense of calm. Creative expression allows anxious energy to take shape outside of you, while body-based grounding helps regulate the nervous system. Together, we’ll develop tools to manage overwhelm and strengthen your connection to safety and self-trust.
As a trauma-informed art therapist based in Philadelphia, I believe healing begins with connection—to ourselves, our bodies, and the stories that shape us. My path to becoming a therapist has been guided by a deep curiosity about how creativity, embodiment, and compassion can help people feel more grounded and whole. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling and Art Therapy and am both a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) and a Registered Art Therapist Provisional (ATR-P). My background includes working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, identity exploration, and life transitions, with a particular focus on women’s issues and LGBTQ+ affirming care. In my work, I blend art therapy, somatic awareness, and person-centered approaches to support clients in finding safety within themselves and clarity in their experiences. I view therapy as a collaborative process—one that honors each person’s inherent creativity, resilience, and capacity for growth. Outside of therapy, I love thrifting and antiquing, and you can often find me curled up with a fantasy novel and my two cats, Cricket and Jerry.

Our goal is to help you better understand what’s happening, develop tools that actually work for your life, and reconnect with a sense of relief, confidence, and balance. If persistent negative thoughts or anxiety have been taking up too much space in your mind, you’re not alone, and reaching out for support is a powerful first step. Many people come to us feeling unsure of where to start, but through therapy they begin to feel more grounded, empowered, and hopeful. At Better Minds Counseling & Services, we use evidence-based approaches tailored to your needs. Treatment may include therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), both of which are highly effective for anxiety and obsessive-compulsive patterns. Our team focuses on helping clients understand their thoughts and behaviors while building practical strategies for change. If we work together, Brittany and her team at Better Minds understand that therapy can feel vulnerable and that growth often comes with ups and downs. I believe your life is a book, and while the early chapters may be heavy, they do not define your whole story. You have the power to write what happens next. My Approach I view your life as a narrative shaped by everything you’ve carried—trauma, grief, and joy alike. While what you’ve been through matters deeply, it is not your identity. I offer a compassionate, down-to-earth approach to help you navigate your most difficult moments. In our work together, therapy becomes a safe space to explore how your past shows up in your present, especially within your relationships. By blending evidence-based tools with real talk, we’ll dive into the connection between your mind, body, and emotions to understand exactly where you feel stuck. My goal is to help you move from a place of surviving your history to intentionally authoring your future. How We’ll Work Together Healing is a journey of self-discovery—uncovering who you are and what you truly need. I hold our time together as sacred, providing a space for you to share both the positives and the negatives. Together, we will: Process Past Wounds: Ensure old traumas no longer dictate your future. Identify Patterns: Pinpoint the unhelpful cycles holding you back from genuine connection. Build Your Toolkit: Develop the skills to communicate needs and set healthy boundaries. Live Intentionally: Gain the courage to take deliberate steps toward a life of wholeness. My Commitment to You I provide compassionate and honest therapy for adults who want to change habits and perspectives that have been holding them back. I am here to empower you to truly know yourself, identify your needs, and gain the tools to express them. Your story is still being written. Let's make the next chapter your best one yet.

How do you work with clients with anxiety?
Anxiety is an emotion that is a natural and healthy part of the human experience. Anxiety evolved as a means to keep us safe from threats and motivated to remain productive and healthy. However, there are times that anxiety becomes unhelpful and can impact our ability to function in areas such as school, work, relationships, family, etc. Anxiety Disorders are treatable! I use evidence-based practices to build understanding of anxiety and to slowly reduce areas of avoidance impacting functioning. Exposure and Response Prevention focuses on gradually facing feared stimuli to support your body's ability to recalibrate what is 'safe'. Acceptance and Committment Therapy supports clients in building a values-based lifestyle. Treatment for anxiety can feel overwhelming. I encourage you to reach out for a free consult. I can share more information on treatment and identify a pace that feels right for you. With ERP, you will never be 'forced' into exposures. You will be directing treatment and deciding what challenges you are willing and able to take on as you redefine your relationship with anxiety.
I am a Philly-based licensed professional counselor (LPC) and board-certified art therapist (ART-BC) in the state of Pennsylvania. I specialize in the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Anxiety Disorders. I use the evidence-based practice of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to support clients in gaining control over their anxiety. I also incorporate elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as mindfulness skills to further support treatment.
