My practice is highly individualized to address common symptoms associated with anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. I treat my clients as unique individuals with their own distinctive concerns impacting their lives. I greatly honor the trust I am given by them to help them navigate difficult times and unexpected life changes. I believe the decision to start the journey towards healing and reconciliation demonstrates a great deal of courage and resolve. Together we can discern a path towards a more balanced and joyful life. Emotional/spiritual growth and symptom reduction are the primary focus of practice. I accomplish this by helping clients understand how their internal life is interacting with outside stressors causing discomfort and impeding growth. I also endeavor to help clients recognize destructive patterns in personal relationships that may be keeping them from further healing. In addition to private practice experience, I also have pastoral/spiritual counseling experience.

Recognizing that things need to change is a good thing. It's usually the first step toward making improvements in our lives. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia. I completed my degrees in Social Work through the University of South Carolina (MSW) and James Madison University (BSW). I aspire to help clients overcome challenges, build skills, and find purpose. I believe therapeutic techniques like logo therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solutions focused therapy can help clients to reach their goals. I have experience working with a variety of issues, including trauma, relationship building, and mood issues including depression and anxiety.

I was born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, NY. I earned a BA in Psychology from Hampton University, a MA in Clinical Psychology from Norfolk State University and an Ed.S in Counseling Education from Hampton University. I have over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, families and couples in different settings including psychiatric hospitals, schools, private and community agencies.

I'm Tony originally from NY. I maintain a balance between spirituality and mind. Too many times I have witnessed the harm of those that take extreme approaches. I strive to be “real” with the client and meet them where they are. I use plain language and simple examples. I encourage the client to be themselves and not put a “front.” With that said, I do not wear literal or figurative suits into sessions. I use an array of counseling methodologies. I have received training in various secular and Christian venues. I have completed training in eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) through the EMDR International Association (this service is available online)

Many of my clients come to me feeling alone, unfulfilled, and wanting something different out of their relationships. They are often feeling burnt out, struggling with impulsivity & procrastination, feeling “not good enough,” holding themselves to unrealistic standards, feeling weighed down by what’s happening in the world, repeating the same unhealthy relationship patterns again and again, and confused about who they are after spending so much time trying to be something else for other people.

My goal is to empower clients to make positive changes. It can be difficult to envision positive changes and growth when you don't see the way. I have worked with so many diverse people over the years that have experienced events that left them with difficulty coping. I have experience working with people who have experienced traumatic events in their lives. I work with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorder, ODD, and many other difficulties people face. I've worked with parents to understand how to help their child. I'm a HeartMath Certified Practitioner, which brings some incredible strategies to the table. My eclectic approach allows me to collaborate with clients and tailor services to their specific needs. Mindfulness is an incredible way to become grounded, and it offers the space to respond to stressful situations rather than reacting to them. I use CBT and other mindfulness techniques to focus on exactly what clients can do in the moment to focus. Through my experience I understand how difficult it may be to reach out for help. I have found that the energy of another person often acts as a buffer during counseling sessions. A counselor often provides that space for open communication between family members.
