What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
I'm one of the most patient and non-judgmental people you'll ever meet. I put you at the center of the session, allowing you to be in the driver's seat while I simply guide you on your way.
Scott Fleming has nearly twenty years of experience journeying with people who have reached their life’s peaks and those that have encountered their lowest valleys. His experience includes working in acute care hospitals, clinics, church counseling centers, and private practice. In addition, he’s held academic and leadership positions in various settings for his entire career. He is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern and a seasoned Certified Pastoral Counselor. Combining the latest best evidence-based practices, clinical expertise, and other psychological advancements with a personalized approach, he cares for patients experiencing the emotional, spiritual, and psychological toll that comes with a variety of conditions and situations. Scott strives to be person-centered yet solution-focused in his approach. He counsels from a relational counseling model, holding to the core belief that an individual cannot heal or grow outside the context of meaningful relationships. Scott believes each person has a unique and sacred story justifying that treatment plans should be genuinely crafted with the client in mind. He has a gift for creating a safe place for people to process their pain and bond with his clients in meaningful ways. Scott subscribes to an eclectic, integrated approach customized to your unique story incorporating elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Adlerian theory, Narrative techniques, solution-focused results, and existential principles. He seeks to partner with every patient in their healing process - mutually collaborative and committed to the process. Scott considers the counseling relationship to be sacred and not one to be taken lightly. It takes much courage to step into counseling, whether it’s your first time or the first time in a while. In meeting with a new counselor, clients often secretly hope that this relationship works out so they don’t have to start over or walk away from therapy. This truth is something Scott understands and values. Whatever brings you into counseling, Scott aims to cultivate a grace-filled environment where you will be met without judgment. Scott specializes in working with clergy, healthcare professionals, first responders, educators, and military personnel. Issues he treats include Anxiety, Coping Issues, Chronic Illness and Conditions, Depression, Family Conflict, Moral Injury, Compassion Fatigue / Burnout, Peer Relationships, Relationship Issues, Self Esteem, Stress, Caregiver Stress, and vicarious trauma. Whether you’re encountering a bump in the road or a boulder in your path, Scott would be honored to walk with you toward your desired goals.

What should people thinking about working with you, know about you?
My personal philosophy is that you will know if we can work together after one meeting.  Therapy only works when the client and the therapist both feel they are the right fit. When this happens then growth and change is possible.  I don't allow my ego to come into the office.  I am not the correct therapist for everyone and I don't mind encouraging my client's to find the correct therapist if I am not compatible with them.  I believe strongly in the healing power of therapy, but this will only occur when you find the right therapist.
Are you like me and have found when I seek to change anything in my life it is the most exciting, terrifying, rewarding, difficult and life altering experience? Deepak Chopra once said, “All great changes are preceded by chaos.” I have found this sentiment to be true in my personal life. Making the decision to change is a difficult choice, but I believe, the true path to healing and joy. In my career I have the pleasure of getting to know many different people from different walks of life and individuals in different phases. I have found the desire to better oneself to be the most amazing and rewarding work I could ever ask for. Passion brought me into this field and to this day drives my work. I try to work with each of my clients individually, getting to know each person and cater my practice to ways to work with you specifically. No two people are alike, so why should I do the same therapy with every client. I am a therapist who will get to know you and work to understand you. I have seen the ways that therapy can produce change, from my own personal work to the work I do with my clients. I look forward to all new clients who come into my life and I can’t wait to get to know each of you. "Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced." Therapy with me is collaborative, flexible, and intentionally tailored to you. Some clients prefer structure—coming into session with clear goals or things to unpack—while others benefit from a more fluid, in-the-moment exploration. Both are welcome here. I don’t assign homework in the traditional sense, but I often invite reflection, introduce mindfulness or somatic practices, or encourage you to try out tools between sessions. Then we come back together to explore what felt helpful, what didn’t, and what obstacles may have come up. Throughout our work, you’ll notice I reflect back key themes, patterns, and emotional truths that can offer deeper insight. I also weave in skill-building when it’s relevant and supportive in the moment. Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all—I treat it like a dance where we co-create the rhythm and direction based on your unique needs, while still offering grounded guidance. My style is compassionate, but also direct. I believe honesty, when delivered with care, builds trust. At times, my language may be candid or even include the occasional curse word if it fits the emotional tone (always with respect and never at your expense). I’m equally comfortable adjusting to your preferences around that. I may share a piece of my own experience when it feels genuinely helpful or humanizing, but always in service of your process—not mine. Ultimately, I show up as a real person in the room (or on the screen), committed to helping you show up fully for yourself.
At Path to Growth Therapy, I’m dedicated to supporting clients as they navigate life’s challenges and uncover tools and strategies to foster growth and reduce symptoms. Therapy with me is a space for reflection, self-discovery, and meaningful transformation—a stepping stone to real and lasting change. My approach is straightforward and strengths-based, grounded in cultural responsiveness, trauma-informed care, and gender-affirming practices. I strive to create a safe and nurturing environment where you can build a growth mindset and take intentional steps toward a more fulfilling life. Together, we’ll explore what’s holding you back and empower you to move forward. If you’re ready to see if we’re the right fit, I invite you to schedule a free 15-minute consultation to start your journey. Let’s work together to create a path toward the life you deserve!
