What is therapy like? What does a typical session with you look like?

I believe the goal of therapy is to provide a safe environment to explore their life history and learn how to manage stressors, trauma, and mental health on a daily basis. I provide my clients with emotional regulation tools, education on their mental health, active listening, and resources to better facilitate their needs. I utilize techniques from several theories that allow me to bring an eclectic approach instead of a “one size fits all” approach. To have the courage to reach out to talk to someone is an enormous emotional stressor. The fact that you are looking at my profile says you have taken the next step in finding peace within yourself and are willing to be an active participant in changing your life for the better. I work with all general mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, and trauma in adults. I assist the client in navigating the challenges in their lives and finding strengths to build upon. I have worked in foster care and individual counseling services. I help my clients learn their strengths, overcome barriers and provide a non-judgmental stance on their experiences to allow them to process their pain in a way that is not forced but comfortable and safe. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work at Wright State University. I completed a dual Masters program at Wright State and Miami University in Social Work. I have worked with children, teens, and adults, supporting them through self-esteem issues, parenting, emotional regulation, trauma, and many other concerns and life experiences.

Visit to Schedule an Appointment: https://headway.co/providers/diego-gomez Welcome, Welcome! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) in Florida with over 10 years of experience working as a psychotherapist and qualified mental health professional. I have worked with clients with a wide range of presenting problems and concerns including, but not limited to: depression, anxiety, family conflicts/dynamics, parenting-related issues, self-esteem, trauma-related symptoms, OCD, DMDD, ODD, ADHD and tics (vocal/motor). My counseling style is attentive, empathetic, and person-centered. I believe supportive psychotherapy in conjunction with psycho-education is life-changing and can be life-saving. My clinical approach is integrative eclectic therapy, which combines a variety of modalities and techniques (e.g., CBT, DBT, ACT, CBIT, etc.) to best fit your needs. Grounded in dialogue, I will make it a priority to ensure a safe, comfortable, and respectful environment that allows you to talk openly. As we build rapport and a therapeutic relationship, I will display unconditional positive regard in an objective, neutral, and nonjudgmental manner. We demonstrate resilience when we expand our understanding and challenge our irrational thoughts that influence our emotions. Together, we will aim to improve symptoms and overcome life's obstacles through self-awareness, discernment and reassurance. I look forward to working with you!
