What do therapy sessions with you look like?
Therapy sessions with me are warm, collaborative, and tailored to your needs. I create a safe, judgment-free space where we explore your challenges, goals, and emotions. Sessions may involve open conversation, practical tools, and deeper reflection, depending on what you need that day. I’ll support and challenge you with kindness, helping you build self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful change in your life.
Therapy isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about having a safe space to explore, process, and grow. I want you to feel comfortable showing up as you are, knowing that this is a judgment-free zone where we work together to help you feel more in control of your life. I understand how overwhelming anxiety, self-doubt, and big life changes can be, and I also know that you don’t have to navigate them alone. My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative—I’ll support you, challenge you when needed, and give you practical tools to help you build confidence, emotional resilience, and a life that feels more like yours. I believe that healing happens when you feel seen, heard, and understood—and my goal is to create that space for you. *Specialties •Mental Health *Conditions treated •Anxiety •PTSD •Relationship issues •Mood disorders •Trauma •Panic attacks •Depression •Life Transitions •Behavioral Issues •Bisexual •Body Positivity •Coping Skills •Family Conflict •Grief •Lesbian •LGBTQ+ •Peer Relationships •School Issues •Self Esteem •Stress •Women's Issues *Treatment philosophy I believe therapy should be a space where you feel safe, heard, and empowered. What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
A typical session with me typically involves an open and collaborative discussion. I prioritize creating a comfortable and supportive environment where we can address your concerns or goals. Whether it's a professional consultation, educational session, or any other context, I aim to tailor our interaction to meet your specific needs. Communication is key, and I encourage questions and feedback throughout the session. My goal is to ensure that our time together is productive, informative, and aligned with your objectives.
I am LaMonica, an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. I was born and raised in Mississippi, and I graduated from Gentry High School. In 2009, I received my Practical Nursing Certification at Coahoma Community College. Continuing my education, I earned my Associates Degree in Nursing from Hinds Community College in 2012. Advancing further, I completed a Master’s Degree of Science in Nursing in 2015 at Walden University. Throughout my entire nursing career, my primary focus has been in Family Medicine. I began my career in a local Health Center, initially working as a staff nurse. As a Registered Nurse, I ventured into the field as a home health nurse and then transitioned to become the owner of an allied health school that trained CNAs, MAs, Phlebotomists, and Pharmacy Techs. After completing my master’s program, I opened my independent practice as a Nurse Practitioner before deciding to attend Medical School three years later. Currently, I am a fourth-year medical student at Washington University of Health and Science. Simultaneously, I am completing a third Master’s for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Wilkes University, which will be completed in April 2024. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling with my family and cuddling up with a good movie.

What do therapy sessions with you look like?
Therapy sessions with me typically begin with a thorough assessment to understand your unique experiences and challenges. We’ll discuss your goals and collaboratively create a personalized treatment plan. Each session focuses on your progress, addressing any concerns while integrating evidence-based strategies. I encourage open communication, ensuring you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings. Together, we'll work on building coping skills, exploring underlying issues, and making adjustments to your treatment as needed. My aim is to create a supportive and safe environment where you can openly discuss your mental health journey.
My professional career has always centered around mental and behavioral health. I have seen and been a part of amazing community efforts to empower the lives of individuals living with a severe and persistent mental illness. Working as part of the assertive community treatment (ACT) team allowed me to step into the homes of adults diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar I, schizoaffective disorder, substance use disorders, and major depressive disorder. I understand how challenging it is in multiple aspects of life, including maintaining relationships and jobs that are vital. I have also worked in inpatient facilities as a psychiatric registered nurse and have a lot of clinical experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner assisting children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder, conduct disorders, mood disorders, and personality disorders. I know the process is challenging for both the parents and children trying to navigate their diagnosis. But we are not our diagnoses. And, it is okay to reach out for help when needed. I feel confident in assisting those across the lifespan in managing medication that can change this narrative. I will conduct a personalized initial intake, take my time to ask your goals, and begin medication that is right for you.
