What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
I use several modalities, including therapeutic breathwork, CBT, and DBT to help clients quickly reduce symptoms while evaluating unhealthy emotional and behavioral patterns that may require longer-term therapy. I approach personality disorders, attachment dysfunction, and identity confusion from a developmental and psychodynamic perspective and have experience treating borderline, narcissistic, and schizoid personality disorders.
I work with adolescents and adults suffering from mood and anxiety disorders, complex trauma, women’s issues, narcissistic abuse, attachment issues, and personality disorders. I also work with couples to improve communication, develop healthy conflict-resolution skills, and create a long-term family vision and mission that restores harmony in everyday life. I believe psychoeducation and a personalized mental health care plan empower clients to make lasting changes quickly. I create a unique treatment plan for each client with specific, measurable goals. I earned my B.A. in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, and after a career as a business executive, returned to school in 2020, earning a Master of Science degree in clinical mental health counseling from Tarleton State University. I am an alumna of the national women’s leadership academy, Leadership America, and was selected in 2015 to be a patient advocate for the National Center for Healthcare Research in Washington, D.C. I am a writer, public speaker, and patient-first healthcare activist, and have published many written works about the dangers of using pharmaceuticals and medical devices cleared (not fully approved) through the FDA's lax 510k marketing process. I enjoy gardening, all forms of creativity and self-expression, love to learn, and believe that where there is humor, there is healing. My husband and I live in Central Texas and enjoy camping with our two dogs and parakeet. We have two adult sons and three granddaughters and believe in the restoration of family relationships as a path to well-being.

I aim to create a space where you can reflect on your life’s journey, exploring the experiences that have shaped you into the person you are today. Through this process, we will work together to reframe and gain a deeper understanding of those pivotal moments, helping you see them from a new perspective. My goal is to empower you to rewrite your story in a way that aligns with your values, strengths, and aspirations, guiding you toward a more positive and fulfilling future. By fostering a supportive and collaborative environment, I am here to help you navigate challenges, uncover your inner resilience, and develop the tools necessary for lasting growth and well-being.
I bring extensive experience in teaching, mentoring, and supporting individuals of various ages and abilities. During my internship at an OASAS-run facility, I had the opportunity to help clients achieve their personal life goals while progressing through their treatment programs. This experience was invaluable in deepening my understanding of the therapeutic process. I felt drawn to the dynamic and client-centered nature of private practice, where I could offer a more personalized and flexible approach to therapy. Since transitioning to this setting, I've continued to grow in ways I never anticipated—both personally and professionally. I am deeply committed to fostering a supportive environment where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to achieve your goals.

Greetings! I'm Dr. Joshua Werblin, a dedicated psychiatrist with a compassionate approach to care. My practice is a sanctuary for individuals of all ages seeking mental wellness. My journey began at The University of Chicago, where I delved into the fundamentals of society and its utopian ideals. I took a somewhat circuitous path from there, working in different fields for nearly a decade before starting to study for my medical degree (M.D.) at Tulane University School of Medicine. During those ten years, I worked variously as a biophysicist, wooden boatbuilder, IT support, astrophysics technical work, and an Auxiliary NYPD officer in Harlem. I completed a Pediatrics Internship at Tulane University, followed by a narrower focus in General Psychiatry Residency training, also at Tulane. I then received subspecialty fellowship training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Seattle Children's Hospital/University of Washington, followed by the acquisition of Addiction Psychiatry sub-specialization some years later. My career has been diverse, including roles as an Inpatient Psychiatrist, Consult-Liaison Psychiatrist, and several Outpatient Psychiatry positions in New York, Florida, and Maryland. More than half of my career has been spent serving the most underserved and marginalized populations, such as youth and women rescued from the sex trade, runaway youth, homeless families, LGBTQIA++ populations, and undocumented immigrants. Since 2019, I've been proudly serving as 'The Feelings Doctor' in my solo virtual practice, offering psychiatric care for children, adolescents, adults, and those facing addiction challenges. My commitment to you is simple: to provide empathetic, individualized, evidence-based care that supports your unique journey toward mental health wellness, whether or not you choose to use medications along the way. Let's work together to navigate life's challenges and embrace the path to healing and fulfillment.

What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
An initial visit with me involves a medical history review, physical examination, and possibly diagnostic tests to evaluate a patient's health, identify issues, and develop a treatment plan.
My name is Amy Read and I am an Adult & Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. I have specialized my interests in health & wellness after years of struggling with my own symptoms ... symptoms of pain, brain fog, IBS, difficulty with focus, no ability to concentration, a very forgetful memory, and so many more. Luckily, I was cleared of anything life threating. Because of my personal challenges, I found functional medicine. I found a way to "cure" myself and reclaim my life. It was hard. It took a lot of time. It took work. It took family support. Now I am able to live again and I have many roles and titles, the best of which is being a mother to 6 beautiful children. I love the sun and the beach, if I have a day off that's where you'll find me! The water is mesmerizing and the sun enlightens my soul! I am now a functional medicine practitioner nurse practitioner and bring over 25 years of experience into my practice. Functional medicine has saved my life and become my passion for helping others. My own triumphs and trials with depression, anxiety, ADHD, food sensitivities and fibromyalgia allow me to have a deep understanding of what my clients are going through and what they need to have in order to achieve the life of their dreams. Through my programs, clients who are committed and ready for change, are able to obtain optimal health and wellness.

What do therapy sessions with you look like?
I believe that the goal of therapy is to address the problem by exploring how the issue developed and creating a specific plan to move forward. In session, you will feel encouraged and supported, but you will also be appropriately challenged. These challenges may cause you to feel uncomfortable, but it is important to remember that, through discomfort, comes change. I am a firm believer that most of the progress and change happens outside of the session. Therefore, I rely heavily on homework assignments, skills development, and community resources. During the intake session, we can talk more about specific techniques that are most helpful for you.
I have experience working in treatment, community, group, and correctional settings with adolescents, young adults, and adults. Primary clinical approaches include evidence-based therapies focused on generating behavioral results. I have an in-depth understanding of the mental health issues that arise from incarceration and the stressors associated with navigating the post-incarceration process. I specialize in working with complex behavioral issues such as: conduct disorders, addition, sexual behavioral problems, and personality disorders. Other issues I specialize in include Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and adolescent, young adult, and transitional issues. The decision to come to therapy can be overwhelming, especially when current approaches are not successful. If you are results-oriented and are willing and open to challenge yourself I encourage you to contact me. I am currently accepting new clients.
