What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
A typical session with me is greeting you and accepting you however you choose to present to the session virtually or in person. I open sessions giving you a chance to process highlights/positives since our last session and concerns/stressors. We review homework from the last session and set an agenda of what you would like to make sure we cover in our time together. Each session is focused on helping you make progress towards your goal which will be different for each individual. Ultimately every session has space for clients to share what they want to cover and learn skills/strategies to address needs and concerns.
Hello, I'm La'Keyta (Keyta), a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Supervisory Endorsement. With over 15 years of dedicated practice, I've had the privilege of guiding countless individuals on their journey toward understanding themselves, sharing their stories, and achieving profound healing. My career has been shaped by a deep commitment to helping individuals unlock their inner strength and resilience. Over the years, I've honed my skills through extensive training and hands-on experience, specializing in therapies such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and more. I am a trauma therapist dedicated to guiding individuals who have endured past and recent trauma, grappling with depression, anxiety, and self-harming tendencies, toward a path of healing and growth. With unwavering authenticity and a belief in your capacity to thrive, my mission is to help you shift from merely surviving to truly living. If you're ready to begin your journey toward healing and growth, or if you have any questions about my approach or expertise, please don't hesitate to reach out. What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
A typical session starts with me asking you "what brings you to therapy?" and then we go from there.
Life doesn't have to suck all the time. I'm not saying that therapy can make your life the greatest in the world, but it can help you work through the experiences in your life that are hard to cope with. Sometimes it helps to talk to someone who is not close to the problem and who has no idea who we are so that we can say things that we would not usually say to those closest to us so that we are not judged. I'm here to listen to everything you have to say without judgment and then guide you through finding healthy ways to cope with the difficult experiences in your life while you ease into your recovery journey. I offer active listening without judgment, compassion, empathy, and guidance. I am honest in my treatment but gentle. I offer cognitive behavioral therapy, guidance through radical acceptance, as well as decision making, and difficult life changes. I offer bereavement therapy, and couple's therapy as well as guidance for LGBTQIA youth. My passion comes from a personal place that has been a staple in my professional work as I am eager to guide those who want to move forward with their lives while they are experiencing their healing and recovery journey. I can also be found on https://headway.co/providers/3191 which is where I take Oscar, Oxford, United Healthcare, Cigna, and Aetna.

What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
The first session with me (or two or three, depending) is largely for the purpose of getting to know each other. I may ask you to take a personality assessment (the Enneagram) and to share with me your perceived challenges--and your perceived strengths, too. From that point, I work intuitively, with the intention of meeting you where you are and working with whatever therapeutic material arises. I'm comfortable with silence, witnessing, holding space and also offering my observations and thoughts about different ways of looking at things.
Seeking a skilled psychotherapist capable of holding space for virtually any human experience you may have? How about a heart-based approach that leverages expressive healing modalities and cultivates your own imaginative muscles? I am a licensed professional counselor and a registered expressive arts therapist, board-certified in both art therapy and music therapy, with special expertise in the Enneagram personality typing system, Jungian sand tray therapy, dreamwork, human shadow work, career-life planning, teletherapy, improvisation, consciousness studies and integrating experiences from non-ordinary states. I consider myself a generalist, with experience working with diverse individuals of all ages with a myriad of challenges. I am a published author with a PhD in Clinical Psychology and a warm, direct approach informed by archetypal psychology. I use several modalities, including therapeutic breathwork, CBT, and DBT to help clients quickly reduce symptoms while evaluating unhealthy emotional and behavioral patterns that may require longer-term therapy. I work with adolescents and adults suffering from mood and anxiety disorders, complex trauma, women’s issues, narcissistic abuse, attachment issues, and personality disorders. I also work with couples to improve communication, develop healthy conflict-resolution skills, and create a long-term family vision and mission that restores harmony in everyday life. What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
I aim to create a space where you can reflect on your life’s journey, exploring the experiences that have shaped you into the person you are today. Through this process, we will work together to reframe and gain a deeper understanding of those pivotal moments, helping you see them from a new perspective. My goal is to empower you to rewrite your story in a way that aligns with your values, strengths, and aspirations, guiding you toward a more positive and fulfilling future. By fostering a supportive and collaborative environment, I am here to help you navigate challenges, uncover your inner resilience, and develop the tools necessary for lasting growth and well-being.
I bring extensive experience in teaching, mentoring, and supporting individuals of various ages and abilities. During my internship at an OASAS-run facility, I had the opportunity to help clients achieve their personal life goals while progressing through their treatment programs. This experience was invaluable in deepening my understanding of the therapeutic process. I felt drawn to the dynamic and client-centered nature of private practice, where I could offer a more personalized and flexible approach to therapy. Since transitioning to this setting, I've continued to grow in ways I never anticipated—both personally and professionally. I am deeply committed to fostering a supportive environment where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to achieve your goals.
