Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
My interest in working with and helping others began at a young age. I saw that there were so many people struggling with mental health difficulties and drug & alcohol addiction, and some could not move on with their lives.  I wanted to learn more about these challenges and what I could do to help. Throughout my career I worked in many different settings and came across so many challenges, and realized there is a need for more therapists.  It motivated me to start working with individuals one-on-one, and independently, rather than in large settings where I was not fully able to work directly with each person.
Hello, and welcome.  I invite you to my practice, to guide and support you along the way, in your journey in caring for yourself.  Do you have difficulty with managing stress and are looking for the tools to help you get through the day? Are you feeling down, or maybe anxious, and need someone to just listen? Or perhaps you’re going through a very difficult time and want to talk to someone but you don’t even know where to begin. With a warm and empathic counseling style, you will find that in working with me, you are supported from a non-judgmental standpoint, and together we will build a trusting relationship where you can feel comfortable.     I offer free 15-minute consults. Contact me to set up a time to talk, and we’ll take it from there.   Know that you are not alone, and you deserve to get the help you are looking for.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
My experience with a family member's suicide along with my own childhood trauma and mental health struggles inspired me to seek out more knowledge on what I was experiencing. My personal healing motivated me to make a career in helping others struggling through similar issues. I find it incredibly rewarding when I can help another person in need.
Focusing on your mental health is the keystone for overall health and wellbeing, and you are doing the hardest part by just having the desire to start therapy. You are making a huge investment in yourself that will provide you with incredible emotional dividends. Clients describe my style as safe, warm, genuine, and authentic. I like to infuse sessions with humor, but only when appropriate. My goal is to create a safe space with a nonjudgmental and compassionate approach, which allows you to explore and change patterns and behaviors in your life that no longer serve you. Not only will we make sense of these behaviors, but I will also help you gain insight and interpret the deeper meaning of significants situations in your life. I believe YOU are the expert in your own life and YOU are in the driver seat. I am sitting in the passenger side, offering you guidance and tools to help navigate through challenging terrain. I have six years of experience, working with adults throughout a variety of issues such as anger management, addiction, codependency, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, relationship problems, and a high focus on trauma. It is critical that you feel compatible and comfortable with a therapist. With this in mind, I offer a free 20-minute consultation to help determine if we are the right fit for each other. Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I wanted to be a therapist at such a young age; I did not really even know what a therapist was! When I was younger, I was rather tech savvy. I set up a Freewebs Site for people to ask questions, so that I could give advice (think: Dear Abby). I just wanted to help people; it felt like a superpower. While I was still in elementary school, I ended up going to in-school counseling. I met with a counselor once a week, grieving the loss of my grandfather. I remember the counselor being so kind to me. I want to give that kindness to others, while giving them a safe space to explore whatever is on their mind. To obtain my LCSW, I attended Fordham University for both my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Social Work and my Master of Social Work degrees. I interned at a middle school, high school, and an adolescents’ psychiatric center. Post graduation, I worked for the Office of Mental Health clinics. I’ve been exposed to a variety of diagnoses and life circumstances, and I can only hope that I’ve been able to help people be gentle with themselves and gain from their challenges.
