Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a therapist because I believe in the power of connection and the importance of safety and stability in relationships. I've seen how challenges in life, especially those stemming from a lack of secure attachments, can significantly impact one's ability to function and thrive. This understanding drives my passion for helping adolescents, couples, and families build trust and safety in their relationships, which I believe is foundational for emotional well-being. What motivates me to continue is the profound impact that therapy can have on people's lives. I am dedicated to creating a safe space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported. Witnessing the transformation that occurs when individuals and families work through their struggles and build healthier relationships is incredibly rewarding. My goal is to help people lead more fulfilling lives, and knowing that I can play a part in their journey toward healing and growth keeps me committed to this work every day.
I believe everyone tries their best, but sometimes life can be challenging. How we connect with safe people and places when we’re young affects how we handle our emotions as we grow up. When we lack stability and security, it can be hard to function well. I am dedicated to helping adolescents, couples, and families find trust and safety in their relationships. My experience includes Marriage and Family Counseling, Individual Counseling, School Counseling, Community Counseling, and Treatment for Opioid Addiction. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania and Virginia, as well as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I specialize in addressing relational issues in marriages, couples, families, and individuals. My focus is on attachment-based interventions, which help people become safe, secure, and stable in their lives. I use a relational-based, attachment-focused therapy approach, adapting to each individual's unique needs. I strive to create a safe space where clients feel heard and understood. Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
Having grown up in a culture where discussing mental health and seeking help is still stigmatized, I am deeply passionate about breaking down these barriers. I believe that mental health challenges can manifest in various forms, including through physical health, and that seeking support is a courageous and vital step toward overall well-being. My ultimate goal is to not only establish my own private practice here in the United States, where psychoeducation and accessible care are more prioritized, but also to bring these resources to the country of my heritage. I am committed to expanding mental health education and providing valuable resources to communities that may not yet have access to them.
I bring extensive experience in teaching, mentoring, and supporting individuals of various ages and abilities. During my internship at an OASAS-run facility, I had the opportunity to help clients achieve their personal life goals while progressing through their treatment programs. This experience was invaluable in deepening my understanding of the therapeutic process. I felt drawn to the dynamic and client-centered nature of private practice, where I could offer a more personalized and flexible approach to therapy. Since transitioning to this setting, I've continued to grow in ways I never anticipated—both personally and professionally. I am deeply committed to fostering a supportive environment where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to achieve your goals.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a therapist because I am deeply passionate about promoting mental health wellness and empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives. My motivation stems from a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others, drawing upon my clinical expertise, empathy, and commitment to evidence-based care. Witnessing my clients overcome obstacles, cultivate resilience, and experience personal growth fuels my dedication to this work, inspiring me to continue supporting others on their journey toward mental health wellness.
Greetings! I'm Dr. Joshua Werblin, a dedicated psychiatrist with a compassionate approach to care. My practice is a sanctuary for individuals of all ages seeking mental wellness. My journey began at The University of Chicago, where I delved into the fundamentals of society and its utopian ideals. I took a somewhat circuitous path from there, working in different fields for nearly a decade before starting to study for my medical degree (M.D.) at Tulane University School of Medicine. During those ten years, I worked variously as a biophysicist, wooden boatbuilder, IT support, astrophysics technical work, and an Auxiliary NYPD officer in Harlem. I completed a Pediatrics Internship at Tulane University, followed by a narrower focus in General Psychiatry Residency training, also at Tulane. I then received subspecialty fellowship training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Seattle Children's Hospital/University of Washington, followed by the acquisition of Addiction Psychiatry sub-specialization some years later. My career has been diverse, including roles as an Inpatient Psychiatrist, Consult-Liaison Psychiatrist, and several Outpatient Psychiatry positions in New York, Florida, and Maryland. More than half of my career has been spent serving the most underserved and marginalized populations, such as youth and women rescued from the sex trade, runaway youth, homeless families, LGBTQIA++ populations, and undocumented immigrants. Since 2019, I've been proudly serving as 'The Feelings Doctor' in my solo virtual practice, offering psychiatric care for children, adolescents, adults, and those facing addiction challenges. My commitment to you is simple: to provide empathetic, individualized, evidence-based care that supports your unique journey toward mental health wellness, whether or not you choose to use medications along the way. Let's work together to navigate life's challenges and embrace the path to healing and fulfillment.
