Dorothy understands how difficult that first step into a therapist's office can be so she strives to provide a non-judgmental and genuine atmosphere for clients to grow. Dorothy also values the idea in therapy “Am I living in a way which is deeply satisfying to me, and which truly expresses me?” –Carl Rogers. She also believes that everyone has the ability to change, grow and be happy.
Dorothy (she/her) received a Master’s Degree in 2007 and PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2017, from Alliant International University. Dorothy has been working in a variety of mental health capacities since 2006. Dorothy uses evidence based practices such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Humanistic Therapy/Person Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Seeking Safety, Art Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Applied Behavioral Analysis and Mental Health Education. Dorothy has broad experience providing child, adolescent, individual, group, family, and couples therapy. Her private-pay fee is $110/session, with some limited sliding scale slots starting at $60. Dorothy loves the ocean, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
If you’re hesitant to try therapy, I completely understand. Opening up about your struggles can feel intimidating, especially if you’ve been taught to handle things on your own or if past experiences have made trust difficult. But therapy isn’t about judgment or weakness—it’s about giving yourself the space to heal, grow, and understand yourself better.  What I wish I could tell you is that therapy is not about fixing you, because you are not broken. It’s about helping you uncover the strength and resilience that already exist within you. It’s a collaborative process where you set the pace, and it’s okay to start small. My advice? Give yourself permission to be curious. You don’t have to commit to long-term therapy right away—just try one session. See how it feels. Therapy is not about having all the answers; it’s about creating a space where you can explore, process, and learn without pressure. And if one therapist doesn’t feel like the right fit, don’t be afraid to try another. You deserve support, and you don’t have to do this alone.
As a licensed trauma therapist, I am dedicated to helping you navigate the challenges of trauma, anxiety, and emotional distress. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where we can work together to understand and rewire trauma responses that may be holding you back. By integrating evidence-based techniques, I help clients build resilience, improve emotional regulation, and develop healthier coping mechanisms. Through our work, you can expect to gain deeper self-awareness, enhance your ability to manage stress, and improve your relationships and overall well-being. I am committed to supporting your journey toward healing, empowering you to shift unhelpful thought patterns, and maximizing your personal and professional growth. You don’t have to navigate this alone—together, we can create meaningful and lasting change in your life.

You don’t have to be in crisis to seek support. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you start. Therapy isn’t about being “broken” or needing to be “fixed”—it’s about giving yourself permission to be seen, heard, and supported in a safe space. It’s okay to feel nervous or unsure. Many people do. Therapy can feel vulnerable because it asks you to show up as you are—but that’s also where real healing begins. You don’t have to do it alone, and you don’t have to know what to say. A good therapist will meet you where you are, without judgment or pressure. It’s not about changing who you are—it’s about understanding yourself more deeply, finding healthier ways to cope, and creating space for growth. Therapy is an act of courage, self-respect, and care. You deserve that.
