For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
If you're hesitant to try therapy, I want you to know that taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health. You deserve to feel your best; therapy can help you achieve that. It's understandable to feel intimidated by the idea of starting therapy, but the process can be incredibly empowering and transformative. In therapy, you can learn new skills, gain insights, and work through challenges that may hold you back from living the life you want. Imagine what it would feel like to have more energy, freedom, and peace in your daily life. It's not too good to be true - it's a real possibility with therapy. And the best part is, we'll go at your pace. You're in control of the process, and we'll work together to create a comfortable and safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. So if you're still on the fence about therapy, I encourage you to take that first step. You deserve to live a fulfilling and joyful life; therapy can help you.
Does it feel like there’s something wrong with you? Are you overwhelmed with daily life while it seems everyone else is getting along okay? Many people struggle with past trauma, anxiety, or high levels of stress that make it difficult to cope, let alone enjoy life. Often my clients find me when they’re at this point. They’re dealing with PTSD, feel trapped in the past, or have crushing depression and anxiety. I work with those in the LGBTQ+ community and others who need an accepting and supportive therapist. My ideal client is motivated to go on this journey with me.

I am aware that considering seeking therapy is a big deal. Especially, if you grew up in an environment that told you to keep your problems to yourself or that it is viewed as a sign of weakness. Let us deconstruct those ideas that have not served us. We matter! As such we need to allow ourselves to be helped. I would tell someone that is hesitant in seeking therapy to give it a chance. At most, you will learn something about yourself that you did not realize before.
Welcome! My name is Kenia Rijo and I am the Founder of Mind, Body And You Therapeutic Services. I have over a decade of experience in clinical settings working with individuals navigating life transitions, identity and anxiety. I am fluent in Spanish which allows for one to be able to serve a large range of clients in their healing journey. In my work I believe it is important to work together to help you develop coping skills, reduce anxiety and stress, cultivate self-love and compassion, and find peace using a strengths-based and person-centered approach. But most importantly our relationship will center on building a better and healthier you as whole- in mind, body, and spirit. It can feel like life is happening too fast and you may feel like you need air to breathe. Together we can work on setting manageable and realistic goals. In the process of wanting more for yourself, you may miss all the small victories that are just as important. Let’s work together to allow you the space to become your authentic self.
