Starting therapy is a big step, and you have the right to find the right therapist to fit your needs. Give yourself some grace to find the person who is a good fit for you- and worst case scenario, if the therapist does not work out on the first try, you can try again. Therapy is a not a one-size-fits-all experience, so remember to not compare your experience to that of others.

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
For People Who Are Hesitant to Try Therapy If you’re unsure about starting therapy, I want you to know that it’s completely okay to feel that way. Reaching out for help can feel uncomfortable — especially when you’ve learned to be the one who holds it all together. But therapy isn’t about being “broken” or needing to be fixed; it’s about giving yourself permission to heal, to understand, and to grow. Therapy is simply a conversation — one where you don’t have to filter your feelings, hide your pain, or have all the answers. It’s a safe space designed just for you — a place where your story matters, and where we work together to understand what’s been holding you back and how to move forward. You don’t have to be in crisis to start. You don’t have to know exactly what to say. All you have to do is show up — and I’ll meet you there, with compassion, respect, and patience. Healing takes courage, but you don’t have to do it alone.
Rachel Webb, LSW, LCDC III, is a licensed social worker and chemical dependency counselor who provides trauma-informed therapy at Grace to Grace Behavioral Health. If you’re feeling unsure about starting therapy, you’re not alone—and that hesitation makes sense. Reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, especially if you’ve been taught to carry things on your own. What I want you to know is this: therapy isn’t about being “broken” or having all the answers—it’s about giving yourself a safe space to breathe, be heard, and figure things out at your own pace. You don’t have to have a crisis to start. You don’t have to explain everything perfectly. You just have to show up—and we’ll meet you there, with compassion, patience, and no judgment. You deserve support. You deserve peace. And therapy can be a powerful first step toward both.

For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
I whole heartedly believe everyone should try therapy at least once in their life. There is something truly wonderful about being able to completely open up to a supportive, empathetic, and unbiased individual. There is opportunity for new perspective, insight, and growth in ways we often don’t imagine.
There is a sentiment that was brought to popularity over the last two years: We are all weathering this storm but are not in the same boat. I have spent a lot of time contemplating this concept. One of the interpretations that sticks with me is that we are all human learning to navigate this life but often impacted by different things in different ways. Some people have yachts while others have canoes, some find themselves being tussled in the ocean while others are blessed to gleam across a lake, and some are fortunate to have life jackets while others have felt they had to learn to float alone. No matter each person’s, couple’s, or family’s circumstances we are all trying to navigate through life. Therapy is a safe and private space that I can hold for you where I may aid you in locating a life jacket, developing a crew, patch your boat, and learn to navigate the waters. Whether you find yourself in tousled waters or navigating a new path I would be pleased to work with you. I have enjoyed working with individuals, couples, and families of all different needs for years.

If you’re hesitant about therapy, I want you to know it’s okay to feel unsure or nervous—that’s completely normal. Therapy isn’t about being “broken” or having all the answers; it’s about having a safe, supportive space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and challenges. You don’t have to face life’s difficulties alone. Even small steps in therapy can lead to meaningful insight, relief, and growth. It’s a place where your experiences are validated, your strengths are recognized, and you’re guided toward practical tools to feel more in control and at peace in your life.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) passionate about helping people navigate life’s challenges, including anxiety, trauma, and difficult transitions. I create a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore their thoughts and emotions. My approach is collaborative and tailored to each person’s unique journey. Together, we identify patterns that may be holding you back, build practical coping skills, and work toward meaningful change in your daily life. I focus on fostering self-awareness, resilience, and personal growth, always with compassion, empathy, and respect for your individual experience. Clients often describe me as warm, approachable, and insightful—someone who listens deeply, challenges gently, and supports them every step of the way toward clarity, balance, and well-being.
