Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?

So I got started in therapy because I saw the difference that it made in my own life. I just experienced the longing to change some of my habits and some of my unhealthy ways of thinking and when I saw that it was possible. I just wanted to share it with other people and let other people know that there is hope, and that you can change. And I just really wanted to be part of that. I love coming alongside of people, empowering them, helping them to believe in themselves. Yeah, so I just really believe in the power to change, and I really want to spread that hope to as many people as I can.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I notice that every time I'm asked this question, I answer it a little differently. It feels like many roads converged to lead me here to my role as a therapist. I experienced ongoing trauma and stressors in my childhood that left me believing there was something deeply wrong with me. As I slowly learned this belief to be untrue, my passion grew for helping others see that they are not the problem, but indeed the problem is the problem. And as I was starting out in the early days of my post-college work life, where I had the opportunity to work with the community in various capacities, I found it was the moments of connection with people that kept me showing up and feeling motivated. I noticed how far deep listening and words of support could go in helping others feel empowered, and I began to see more clearly my unique gifts to spead some good in the world. And what keeps me going? Well, showing up and seeing others slowly awaken to their own gifts, healing their wounds, and regaining their power by placing responsibility where it belongs... that's pretty incredible. I value and appreciate each person I've worked with, and while I show up as a therapist with the goal of helping others, I too grow and evolve along this journey.
I am a California virtual therapist specializing in working with individuals ages 10+. My passion is for providing a safe and compassionate space for my clients to unpack their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a therapist because of my own experiences with therapy, which for me, were deeply helpful. The people I work with motivate me to continue and being able to be a part of their healing process is extremely rewarding. Plus, the field of therapy is always evolving, so I am motivated to look at the future developments.
