Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I was captivated by the role of the psychotherapist at a very young age. My passion continued to grow as the years passed, and I was confident that this is what I am supposed to be doing. I am of Hispanic descent and come from a culture where therapy is stigmatized. I aim to break those barriers and make therapy welcoming. Life is too short to be caught in a cycle of bad relationships, holding grudges, letting trauma control us, or being anxious/angry all the time. I am dedicated to guiding you to be free of emotional pain and to find meaning/purpose in all aspects of your life. I chose to become a psychotherapist because I believe every individual holds an essential role in this world and seeing individuals become their best selves is a bonus.
You deserve to live a life that leaves you excited to wake up every morning. I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. Calling a therapist can be intimidating; take a moment, maybe even a deep breath. Allow me the opportunity to create a safe and Zen space for you. Together we can begin this journey of personal growth and healing. There is no pivotal time like the present to take this step to elevate yourself out of the cycle of bad relationships, grudges, trauma, or being anxious/angry all the time. We will collaboratively work to obtain clarity through mindfulness. I practice from an eclectic and client-centered approach, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to create a unique space just for you. Therapy should be an exclusive experience for every individual, family, and couple. Let us begin this process of greater conciseness and living your best life. Give yourself a break; change can be challenging. Let's work towards breaking free of old patterns, creating balance in your life, and your natural capacity to heal. Your transformation starts NOW!

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I don't know that a calling is something that you need motivation for.  Therapy is my calling. I believe that everyone deserves a chance to find happiness, peace and contentment.  Therapy is a road to finding these things and my personal values lie in the desire to help others grow and change into their best selves.  I find great passion and joy in working with other people and having the privilege of journeying with them to better mental health.  The road is often hard, but the reward is always work the hardship.
Are you like me and have found when I seek to change anything in my life it is the most exciting, terrifying, rewarding, difficult and life altering experience? Deepak Chopra once said, “All great changes are preceded by chaos.” I have found this sentiment to be true in my personal life. Making the decision to change is a difficult choice, but I believe, the true path to healing and joy. In my career I have the pleasure of getting to know many different people from different walks of life and individuals in different phases. I have found the desire to better oneself to be the most amazing and rewarding work I could ever ask for. Passion brought me into this field and to this day drives my work. I try to work with each of my clients individually, getting to know each person and cater my practice to ways to work with you specifically. No two people are alike, so why should I do the same therapy with every client. I am a therapist who will get to know you and work to understand you. I have seen the ways that therapy can produce change, from my own personal work to the work I do with my clients. I look forward to all new clients who come into my life and I can’t wait to get to know each of you. "Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced." Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
My journey to where I am now has been an unexpected but pleasant surprise! I originally had my mind set on a long-term career as a professor at a university conducting research on diagnosis and assessment and seeing clients part-time. During my time as a faculty member, I found myself drawn to the helping side of being a teacher and advisor rather than the administrative and research side of my responsibilities. The universities strong focus on administrative duties and publishing research articles became mundane and unfulfilling. I quickly learned that it was not working in an academic setting that I loved, but it was what all my positions had in common: working directly with clients and individuals to foster hope, see positive growth and change, and feel happy, capable, and whole again. That’s when I discovered that being a full-time therapist was my true passion.
Is managing stress, anxiety, or trauma overwhelming and impacting your quality of life? Do you feel physically and emotionally drained and unable to manage daily tasks? You deserve to feel happy, capable, and whole again! I can help you identify your inner strengths to overcome any emotional and mental health challenges you are experiencing. I have over 12 years of experience providing services to clients with various mental health challenges. I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for a range of individuals. This includes those in late adolescence and adulthood who may be dealing with anxiety, mood, and trauma-related disorders/symptoms as well as individuals facing life stressors and transitions. I work to help my clients navigate these difficulties, identify unique needs, and build skills to unlock their inner and inherent capacity for healing and growth. My approach to therapy varies based on the individual needs of each client I work with. I believe in utilizing a client-centered approach and research-backed treatments that are most effective for your struggles. This approach helps me and the client build a shared understanding of their reality and allows us to work together to chart a path forward.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a therapist for several pivotal reasons in my formative years. Some members of my broader family suffered from mental illness while others struggled all too regularly with the common stressors, we all encounter at times including grief, stress, and relational struggles. Sadly, do to the stigma associated with seeing a therapist - none of them sought help and at times self-medicated. Being a naturally empathetic person with a heart for hurting people, I looked for a way to help others in similar situations. After working in an acute care hospital during the pandemic I began to see this reality with other families increasingly, especially those in helping professions. It is in this space wherein I'm most passionate, and most charged by the work that I do.
Scott Fleming has nearly twenty years of experience journeying with people who have reached their life’s peaks and those that have encountered their lowest valleys. His experience includes working in acute care hospitals, clinics, church counseling centers, and private practice. In addition, he’s held academic and leadership positions in various settings for his entire career. He is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern and a seasoned Certified Pastoral Counselor. Combining the latest best evidence-based practices, clinical expertise, and other psychological advancements with a personalized approach, he cares for patients experiencing the emotional, spiritual, and psychological toll that comes with a variety of conditions and situations. Scott strives to be person-centered yet solution-focused in his approach. He counsels from a relational counseling model, holding to the core belief that an individual cannot heal or grow outside the context of meaningful relationships. Scott believes each person has a unique and sacred story justifying that treatment plans should be genuinely crafted with the client in mind. He has a gift for creating a safe place for people to process their pain and bond with his clients in meaningful ways. Scott subscribes to an eclectic, integrated approach customized to your unique story incorporating elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Adlerian theory, Narrative techniques, solution-focused results, and existential principles. He seeks to partner with every patient in their healing process - mutually collaborative and committed to the process. Scott considers the counseling relationship to be sacred and not one to be taken lightly. It takes much courage to step into counseling, whether it’s your first time or the first time in a while. In meeting with a new counselor, clients often secretly hope that this relationship works out so they don’t have to start over or walk away from therapy. This truth is something Scott understands and values. Whatever brings you into counseling, Scott aims to cultivate a grace-filled environment where you will be met without judgment. Scott specializes in working with clergy, healthcare professionals, first responders, educators, and military personnel. Issues he treats include Anxiety, Coping Issues, Chronic Illness and Conditions, Depression, Family Conflict, Moral Injury, Compassion Fatigue / Burnout, Peer Relationships, Relationship Issues, Self Esteem, Stress, Caregiver Stress, and vicarious trauma. Whether you’re encountering a bump in the road or a boulder in your path, Scott would be honored to walk with you toward your desired goals.
