For people that are hesitant to try therapy, what do you wish you could tell them?
I’d tell them that therapy is a safe and supportive space designed to help them explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors without judgment. It’s a collaborative process, and you don’t have to go through it alone. Therapy isn’t about fixing anyone, but about understanding yourself better and learning tools to manage life’s challenges more effectively. It’s natural to feel hesitant, but taking the first step can be incredibly empowering, and the benefits far outweigh the initial discomfort.
My name is Solomon Abebe, and I am dedicated to providing compassionate and effective healthcare. I currently work as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at Cape Side Health, a role I've held since June 2023. My journey in healthcare includes varied experiences across hospitals in Georgia, from working as a travel RN at Northside Hospital to supporting patients in critical care at Grady Memorial Hospital. Throughout my career, I have been committed to recording vital patient information, addressing any issues promptly, and delivering comprehensive bedside care. My background also includes time with Emory and Piedmont hospitals, where I honed my skills in diverse medical settings. I hold a degree from Georgia State University and continue to stay updated with the latest in healthcare to ensure my patients receive top-notch care. My focus is on making my patients feel heard, safe, and well-cared for in their healthcare journey.

If you're unsure about starting therapy, let me assure you: Firstly, it's completely normal to feel a bit nervous about beginning therapy. Taking this step is a brave move, and it's absolutely fine to have some doubts. Remember, seeking help shows strength, not weakness. Therapy is a private, non-judgmental space where you can freely express yourself. It's a safe place to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without worrying about being criticized. Keep in mind, you're not on this journey alone. Many people have found tremendous benefit from therapy, and there's a good chance you will too.
