How do you work with clients with anxiety?
To work with clients experiencing anxiety, I conduct a thorough assessment to understand their symptoms and triggers. I build a trusting relationship, manage medications if needed, and may use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or refer clients for therapy. I also consider holistic strategies, such as stress management and relaxation techniques, to support overall well-being. My goal is to provide tailored, supportive care and adjust the treatment plan as needed.
Hello, my name is Maria Fernanda Antunez, and I’m a bilingual Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in healthcare. I specialize in mental health and have a deep passion for helping adults manage their mental well-being. Currently, I work with Grow Therapy and Florida Personal Management, providing both in-person and Telehealth services. My focus is on evaluating, diagnosing, and treating adults experiencing behavioral health issues. I also handle medication management and work closely with counselors and therapists to ensure holistic care. In my roles, I prioritize timely responses and ensure that all assessments and progress notes are completed accurately. My approach is always patient-centered, and I am committed to making each visit as helpful and comforting as possible. Previously, I worked at Mind and Soul Therapy, where I provided care for adults dealing with depression and anxiety. Additionally, I served as a Registered Nurse for 6 years, caring for critically ill patients and supporting them through various procedures. I’m dedicated to providing compassionate care and helping my patients navigate their mental health journey. If you need support, I am here to help. *Specialties •Mental Health •Adult Psychiatry *Conditions treated •Depression •Anxiety •ADHD •Panic attacks •OCD •Mood disorders •Bipolar disorders •Self Esteem •Sleep or Insomnia *Practice description As a PMHNP, I firmly believe that the best treatment method to understand and care for my patients is through a comprehensive and individualized evaluation process. By delving into their medical history, social history, and current mental status, I am able to gain a deeper understanding of their unique needs, preferences, and circumstances. This allows me to create an individualized treatment plan tailored specifically to each patient, ensuring that they receive the care and support that is most beneficial to them. In addition to medication management, I always consider integrating therapy sessions for a more holistic approach to treatment. I may refer patients to psychotherapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to further support their mental health needs. *Treatment philosophy Here's how I approach treatment: •Building Rapport: Establishing trust and a therapeutic relationship with patients is crucial. I prioritize active listening and empathy. •Individualized Care Plans: Each patient is unique. Tailoring treatment plans to fit individual needs, preferences, and goals is essential. •Medications: Prescribe psychotropic medications when necessary, ensuring patients are fully informed about benefits, side effects, and alternatives. •Therapy: Offer or refer to psychotherapy and other therapeutic modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I believe in patient empowerment, believing that informed, engaged patients are key to success treatment outcomes. *Treatment approach •Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT) •Person-Focused •Culturally Sensitive •Coaching •Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) •Psychological Testing And Evaluation

How do you work with clients with anxiety?
I work to establish trust and safety with a non-judgmental attitude. Anxiety can make people feel vulnerable or even ashamed, so it’s important to create a space where they feel safe and understood. I allow clients to move at their own pace. Pushing them too hard could escalate their anxiety. Instead, offer options and let them choose what feels comfortable. I use active listening, reflection, and validation, for often times, anxiety can feel isolating, so simply being heard can make a huge difference, instead of minimizing or dismissing their feelings, acknowledging their experience helps them feel less alone. I attempt to normalize their experience by getting them to understand that anxiety is a common and often manageable condition with appropriate tools and resources. I try to reassure them that it's not unusual to feel overwhelmed, and there are many ways to cope with it. I encourage people to treat themselves with kindness, especially when they're struggling, provide coping skills and new ways of thinking along with education and the resources (support groups, apps, etc.) to promote growth and long term change.
Choosing  a counselor is a personal and important decision for therapy to happen. When you work with me, you can expect a warm, non-judgmental, and supportive environment where your story is heard and respected. My approach is collaborative and tailored to meet your unique needs helping you to move forward toward greater clarity, healing, and self understanding. Clients often describe my approach as they were talking to one of their friends for I create a space for you to show up as you are with no pressure or pretense. I am able to integrate evidence based practices with my empathy and intuition into helping others grow and change which happens only when trust is built in a relationship. My goal is not to "fix" you but to help guide you and support you in becoming more aligned with who you truly are.
