Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
The work of therapy, both as the client and the therapist, requires intentionality, vulnerability, bravery, and patience. As a therapist, I have had the opportunity to develop meaningful relationships with a variety of people, many of whom were passionate about the change they wanted to see in their lives. Supporting my client while they embark on the emotional work of healing and self-awareness is both motivating and exciting. I understand the challenges of sharing the thoughts and feelings that we are not always comfortable sharing. When my clients acknowledge their feeling of discomfort or uncertainty and still decide to move forward in the therapeutic process- that fuels my work as their supporter.
Hi, I'm Kalisha Crone and I’m a licensed clinical social worker who is passionate about supporting communities of color and helping all of my clients improve their overall well-being. My life’s journey paired with my education has afforded me countless learning opportunities that have shaped me into the therapist that I am today. I use techniques such as mindfulness, client-centered therapy, and cognitive behavioral interventions to create a safe space for my clients to process, reflect, learn, grow and eventually go forth on their own. I believe in the power of resilience and I understand that in sharing our stories and receiving the validation that we deserve we can heal the hurt and trauma we have carried for far too long. I care about you, your family, and your story. You can trust that I will treat you with respect, dignity and compassion in every interaction, while maintaining the highest standards for integrity and ethics. Please feel free to contact me for a free consult to see if we are a good fit!

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
The answer is kind of funny. I originally wanted to be a high school teacher. While I was student teaching I started off in a middle school. I enjoyed it so much that I tried to see if I could stop the planned switch over to the high school (I couldn't). After graduating, I didn't want to teach at all. I went back to school to earn a Master of Social work. I did not initially want to become a therapist but wanted to work in community outreach. My first internship was in a psychiatric hospital and I absolutely fell in love with the mental health field.
I am the owner and founder of Rowe Counseling Services and have been in mental health treatment for over 8 years. I am licensed in both Mississippi and Louisiana. I have experience working with all age groups. I apply various therapeutic approaches in my work including cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy. I always take a client-centered approach and allow you to take the lead in your treatment while I simply act as your guide. Just as many other therapists do, I treat disorders such as depression and anxiety. My specialties however are trauma, dementia, and substance abuse (especially opioid abuse and the use of treatments such as Suboxone and other forms of buprenorphine). I also utilize somatic psychotherapy and sensorimotor psychotherapy for the treatment of trauma and attachment issues. Traditionally, many forms of therapy focus on the influence the mind has on the body. However, trauma is a body response. Somatic and sensorimotor psychotherapy addresses the body to improve the mind. Please, feel free to reach out for a brief consultation to learn more about more about my approaches, my services, and my fees. While I am self-pay only, I do assist with reimbursement for out-of-network benefits. I can quickly check for eligibility.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I believe that what makes me weird makes me wonderful, not wrong. Participating in different alternative lifestyle communities I have seen the frustration trying to find the therapist who is looking for you, understands what it means to be the different you are, and how that’s not the problem. I offer therapy programs as unique as you are.
I provide therapy for those who love differently. Life isn’t always easy feeling like a round peg person in a square hole world. Whether exploring ethical nonmonogamy in polyamory, swinging, kink, or your own sexual identity, not knowing what to expect can be scary. Experience in the ENM world does not always guarantee smooth sailing either. I can help you with your next steps forward to a vibrant, full, true-to-yourself life. Some people have just been polybombed, the love of their life seeming to say they’re not enough. Others, having taken the leap can’t seem to stop fighting. Feeling isolated, scared, tired, and like they're going to lose everything. Take a moment to imagine your life as it could be in a few months. You are in love, all over again. With your partner, a new partner, yourself, and how you live. Accepted for who you are, allowed to love in a way that feels natural, you are excited in your new life. I work WITH you to offer custom therapeutic approaches as wonderfully powerful and unique as you are. I got into being a therapist watching people I loved and cared about going to amazingly experienced therapists, then spending the entire first session teaching that therapist the basic vocabulary of their lives, or that the way they lived their life differently wasn’t the problem they were having, the anxiety or depression or what have you was. I felt my people, the fun and weird and hurt, needed a native understanding so I got to work.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I have worked 22 years in special education with neurodivergent, emotional disturbance, and behavioral struggles. I became a therapist after losing a brother to suicide, mother grieving, and being a single mother. I want to help other with depression and anxiety as it motivates me to see the progress in their mental health and increase their self-esteem.
Parents want what is best for their child and they want someone that will let their child learn and explore their experiences in a safe environment. You want to learn how to support your child/adolescent at home by gaining resources and tools that will improve relationships and behaviors. I help individuals, groups, parents, children, adolescents, and adults navigate through their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I work with issues of depression, grief, anxiety, behavior, self-harm, suicidality, and neurodiversity. You want someone that will listen and assist you in meeting your goals and I will guide you along the way. With a diversified approach using modalities such as trauma-focused CBT, child-centered play therapy, animal assisted therapy, and cognitive behavioral theory, I teach the client how to recognize that thoughts can change their feelings and emotions in various situations which can then induce adverse behaviors and body sensations. My goal is to help clients process trauma and teach how to implement strategies to build healthy thought patterns leading to a foundation for lifelong resilience and well-being. Neurodiverse people will learn skills to help with relationships/friendships, social cues, perspectives, and emotional regulations. I'm ready to meet and support you!
