Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I began on my path to be a therapist when I was seven years old and would look at another person and wonder if they thought the way that I think.  As a child, I enjoyed people watching and wondered what their motivation was behind actions.  This fascination into the mind continued and resulted in my schooling and subsequent career.
Hello!  I am a recent (May 2019) graduate of the Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M University-Central Texas. I graduated from the same school in 2016 with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology.  I specialized in child and adolescents throughout my school career.  For my internship, I completed hours at Cedar Crest Hospital and RTC, working with children, adolescents, and adults.  Upon graduation I got a full time job at the same hospital on the adult unit.  I became adept at working with those with schizophrenia, Bipolar, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and Borderline Personality Disorder.  I also am very experienced and knowledgeable at working with those with ADHD, autism, and various learning and developmental delays. I enjoy using a person centered approach that focuses on the person’s strength and ability to manage their daily living through skills taught in therapy.  However, I enjoy research and drawing on many other modalities to provide the treatment that would best benefit the client. I am currently an LPC-Associate/NCC, but I am less than 300 hours away from full licensure. I have experience both with the short term hospital therapy and the more chronic long term therapy aspects, having seen several clients.  I have transitioned to private practice, where I see patients both in person and via telehealth. I currently cannot accept insurance because I do not have my full license yet, but I do accept cash payment.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
To be honest, I have always been an empath, and so have felt called to show up for others. Given that I had been working in the mental health and social work worlds since 2008, earning my LCSW seemed like the next logical step. Also, I have been practicing energy work (akin to Reiki) since my early 20s, and presumed that earning my LCSW would hopefully reassure people that I could be trusted to provide legitimate, reliable support (and to help shake them of fears that I was a back-alley quack). I have found that my holistic practices and talk therapy feel like equally fulfilling fingers from the same hand, whereby I feel I am showering my clients with the care bear stare, so to speak.
I feel that clients shouldn't have to be in therapy forever! While co-creating this process with you, I strive to balance my active listening with imparting active, hands-on techniques to help you reclaim your narrative and overcome obstacles in your path. I feel it's about more water rather than less soda, so to speak, and take both a clinical and holistic approach to helping you enhance alignment and experience deeper fulfillment in your journey. Along with my LCSW, I am trained in EMDR, certified in Theta Healing, Reiki, Transformational Life Coaching, and Therapeutic Touch, and Master Practitioner certified in Neuro Linguistic Programming, Hypnotherapy, and Time Line Therapy.
