Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
Becoming a therapist was a cultivation of my own life, my values, and my own experience having family and friends who suffered from Mental Health issues. My preferred theoretical orientation is an integrative approach cultivated from my clinical experience, professional identity, and intersectionality. As an LGBTQIA+ clinician, my identity has shaped my worldview, highlighting my theoretical orientation in a culturally sensitive, feminist, person-centered framework, while actively working toward antiracist and anti-oppressive care.
Hi, I'm Morgan! I'm a Philly-based clinician with a background in Art Therapy & Counseling. I provide individual therapy to adults and adolescents with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, negative thinking, and struggles with self-esteem and body image. Therapy is a safe way to explore prominent themes of identity, relationships, and gain a deeper understanding of our internal experiences. As a queer clinician, I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals to explore prominent themes of identity while processing experiences with discrimination, gender dysphoria, questioning, and interpersonal conflicts. I apply an integrative approach based on the client’s individualized needs, implementing tenants of Art Therapy, Feminist Theory, Internal Family Systems Model, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (T-F CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I aim to create an open, warm, and non-judgmental environment while promoting insight and self-empowerment!

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
Even as a child, I was highly attuned to people’s emotions and liked to learn what motivated and inspired individuals. During my college years, I served as a student counselor to incoming freshmen, which solidified my decision to continue my psychology studies. My graduate school internship provided an opportunity to work in a healthcare setting, which became my professional niche. I have extensive experience providing mental health care in a hospital setting with concentrations on coping with chronic illness, oncology, palliative care, and caregiver and bereavement support. I opened my private practice in 2010 and have worked with clients dealing with various mental health issues and health challenges as well as those seeking personal growth and wellness. In the past, I’ve also been a part of a group psychotherapy practice, provided pro bono services to a local hospice program, and served as a consultant to a national magazine publication.
My goal is to establish a collaborative relationship with the client directed toward wholeness and their personal growth and transformation. I strive to move away from the stigma and labeling that traditional abnormal psychology offers and focus on my client's strengths and mutually developed goals to help them reach their highest potential. Body-mind-spirit integration is my personal life foundation, and it is the core of my therapeutic approach. I provide individual and couples therapy for the issues of depression, anxiety, self-esteem, communication issues, relationship difficulties, life transitions, coping with stress, chronic illness, cancer, bereavement counseling, caregiver support, maternal mental health, and many more. I integrate my unique specialty as a Certified MARI (Mandala Assessment Research Instrument) Practitioner, one of the very few fully certified in the US, to offer a comprehensive psychological assessment and turn this modality into a life-changing experience. I’m an eclectic therapist, combining different approaches that are geared toward individual goals of each client and ultimately lead to their own path of healing and overall wellness.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
My nephew, Jeremiah Rock, passed away in 2017 at age 10. Before his passing, he was going through severe depression. I have never saw anyone in so much pain before, and I wasn't there to help him in his time of need. After his passing, I wanted to make sure that no one experiences that type of pain, no matter the age, race, gender, orientation, or background.
Mr. Rock is a mental health specialist, certified behavioral health coach and counselor-in-training in Alabama. He has completed his training in both psychology and clinical mental health counseling at Jacksonville State University. Mr. Rock has experience in behavioral health inpatient and outpatient settings working with children and adolescents, adults, and the senior population. As a behavior health specialist in an inpatient setting, Mr. Rock has served individuals with various behavioral and psychiatric disorders, such as mood disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, and neurocognitive disorders. He also has a passion for serving children and adolescents and has experience assisting those with ADHD, neurodevelopmental disorders, impulse-control disorders, depression, and anxiety disorders. In addition, Mr. Rock has researched discounting, impulsivity, and impulsive-control disorders. His approach is central to the person's focus and having an empathic, holistic, and preventive view of the person’s health and well-being

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I experienced death as an adolescent and my experience with therapy was not the best. I remember leaving a session exhausted and feeling like no one understood me. It was then that I said I wanted to be a therapist and make the people I saw felt seen and heard. I wanted to help in whatever capacity I could for them, because I felt as if no one was wanting to help me in my struggle. That is what has motivated me to learn several modalities, so that I wouldn't ever have to say "I can't help you" to someone. My desire to help others through their mental health struggles as my life dream since a child and I am proud to say that I have been successful in my goal. I would love to help you through what you are experiencing right now.
Your story doesn't end here. You are more than your experiences. I believe that everyone has the ability to heal, and it is my goal to help you find your way back to wellness. Let's start the next chapter together. My therapy approach is that of "Mind, Body, Soul" and believe that all three will influence someone's quality of life. Whether it be someone needing psychotherapy to address past traumatic events or someone who is holding their trauma in their body, everything revolves around alignment. I offer a variety of modalities that address the whole person, not just their mental needs. I offer EMDR for both adults and children both in person and virtually, Play Therapy (in person), and available for BOTH in-person and virtual, Somatic Experiencing, Trauma and Tension Releasing Exercises, and Ketamine Assisted Therapy. For those in Dallas, TX, I will be starting a 90 min. biweekly T.R.E. and "Chakra of the Month" Sound Bath group class. Winding Path Solutions came to me when I was hiking Mt. Rainer. As I was walking and not paying attention, I kept tripping on rocks and tree roots and stumbling on the path. Things like anxiety, depression, loneliness are all those rocks and roots. They make the path more complicated and trickier, but isn't it a great feeling when you've completed the path?

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
Moving from Tanzania, I grew up in a community where those who were fortunate supported those who were less fortunate. Every Sunday my parents would make food and take my brother and I to distribute it to the homeless community. I remember laughing with the homeless community as they would tell us jokes and express gratitude. This instilled the value of service, connection, and compassion. Moving to the U.S. at the age of 10, I was overwhelmed by the homeless population and how the lower income communities were treated. I couldn't figure it out - I was confused, angry, lost, sad. Ironically, my family faced extreme poverty and I learnt what it was like to be displaced and push against extreme social, political, and environmental resistance. In addition, my mom struggled with undiagnosed bipolar disorder in a minority community where it was stigmatized; ripping our family apart and deepening the trauma in our lives. Moving through the years, my commitment to rebuild hope and resilience grew even stronger, eventually leading me into psychology and a Masters in Social Work. Today, my passion to build hope and touch as many lives as possible, extends beyond the homeless community; it's for everyone: - people of color who face the challenges of cultural duality - women who are learning to use their voice with power and grace - men who want to normalize expressing all their emotions and vulnerabilities. Each of us has an internal battle we are facing, and I hope to be part of the strength and resilience that you build to get through those battles you are facing. I am committed to help you anchor in the changes in your daily life, fall back in love with yourself, and feel excited about all that life has to offer you!
