What do therapy sessions with you look like?
Therapy sessions with me are centered on creating a safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental space. Each session typically begins with a discussion of the client’s current concerns and goals. We work together to explore emotions, challenges, and progress, using a range of therapeutic approaches tailored to the individual's needs. Full Psychiatric Assessment The initial meeting will be a focus session of 60 - 120 minutes in person or online. The most important thing for us as practitioners is to create a sense of trust between the patient and the practitioner. This trust will enable us to begin a mitigation process by talking with you to identify your pain points, but more importantly, to learn about you first as a human being, not just your “symptoms.” A thorough psychiatric evaluation aims to assess what you are experiencing and develop a treatment plan. We focus on complete psychiatric assessment of children, adolescents, and adults with the following: Anxiety Depression Insomnia Attention/Focus Concerns/Impulsivity Mood Swings Somatic Response to Trauma Obsessed And Compulsive Actions Follow Up Appointments Once you’ve been to our office for the initial visit, we will meet for a follow-up to discuss how you’ve been since your last appointment. When this is done, we will review the good recommendations and those that are not. This might include discussions about medication, lab work, or holistic interventions. Our visits are time-based, and you can choose between 45-minute and 60-minute sessions for your management or more focused 30-minute meetings. This effort is also focused on medication and holistic interventions, and often, those who are using these shorter sessions already have a therapist with whom they are working. Each treatment plan is customized to the individual, but you can expect to visit anywhere from weekly to every 2-3 months. Of course, we will discuss this and agree on what suits you best.

What does a typical session with you tend to look like?
I want to know about who you want to be, how you want to move through your world. We will talk about the things keeping you from already doing that and figure out a way to make those things smaller. I highly value humor and radical honesty. I won't shy away from calling bullshit, but it will always come from a place of deep respect for your process.
UPDATE: not currently accepting insurance, out of network only, but lets check your out-0f-network benefits and see whats up So, you're considering therapy? I get it, things are crazy and it feels like we are living in a really bad late-night movie, complete with sad and pathetic villains. I don't have any magic over here, but I do have a place where we can hopefully get you to a place that looks more like where you want to be. I have an eclectic approach, which is a fancy way of saying that I don't rely on any one way of getting to where you want to be. But my starting point is always from a place of your strengths, the things you are already doing well; you are not your symptoms. I trend toward elements from Acceptance and Commitment, Narrative, Positive Psychology, Existentialism, Brief Solution Focused, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered, Behavioral Activation, and Mindfulness. I am progressive in my politics, a non-believer, and I welcome cursing as a means of expression. I believe that humor can get us through a lot of things. I mention this only because I have often had difficulty finding my own therapists that didn't wince when I said fuck or want to steer me in a spiritual direction. I am LGBTQ+ and BIPOC affirming and welcome folks from all backgrounds and ethnicities.

What do therapy sessions with you look like?
Therapy sessions with me typically begin with a thorough assessment to understand your unique experiences and challenges. We’ll discuss your goals and collaboratively create a personalized treatment plan. Each session focuses on your progress, addressing any concerns while integrating evidence-based strategies. I encourage open communication, ensuring you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings. Together, we'll work on building coping skills, exploring underlying issues, and making adjustments to your treatment as needed. My aim is to create a supportive and safe environment where you can openly discuss your mental health journey.
My professional career has always centered around mental and behavioral health. I have seen and been a part of amazing community efforts to empower the lives of individuals living with a severe and persistent mental illness. Working as part of the assertive community treatment (ACT) team allowed me to step into the homes of adults diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar I, schizoaffective disorder, substance use disorders, and major depressive disorder. I understand how challenging it is in multiple aspects of life, including maintaining relationships and jobs that are vital. I have also worked in inpatient facilities as a psychiatric registered nurse and have a lot of clinical experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner assisting children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder, conduct disorders, mood disorders, and personality disorders. I know the process is challenging for both the parents and children trying to navigate their diagnosis. But we are not our diagnoses. And, it is okay to reach out for help when needed. I feel confident in assisting those across the lifespan in managing medication that can change this narrative. I will conduct a personalized initial intake, take my time to ask your goals, and begin medication that is right for you.
