Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
I became a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner because I'm deeply passionate about mental health and the well-being of individuals facing psychological challenges. I've always had a genuine interest in understanding the complexities of the human mind and the impact that mental health has on one's overall quality of life. What motivates me to continue in this field is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of my patients. I find immense fulfillment in helping individuals navigate through their mental health issues, alleviate their suffering, and witness their journey toward recovery and improved quality of life. The resilience and strength I see in my patients inspire me every day. Moreover, the field of mental health is continually evolving, and I'm motivated to stay at the forefront of these advancements. I believe in the importance of providing evidence-based, compassionate care, and I'm dedicated to lifelong learning and professional growth to ensure my patients receive the best possible treatment. In essence, my patients and the ever-evolving nature of this field serve as my constant sources of motivation and drive.

Why did you become a therapist, and what motivates you to continue?
At the risk of sounding cliche, I feel as if therapy chose me. I grew up as an anxious child. In an effort to understand and heal myself, I became interested in psychology. I quickly realized I had a knack for helping others. My clients motivate me to continue because I understand that one therapy relationship has the potential to shift the lives of an entire generation.
I am Kirsten Ramey. I am a Doctoral level, Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia. Clients usually refer to me as Dr. Ramey, Dr K or even Doc. I am a Board Certified TeleMental Health Provider and I have worked in the mental health field for 17 years in community/within home settings, schools, the juvenile justice system, private practice settings, and OL settings. My expertise is related to working with individuals, couples and families that experience communication difficulties, anxiety, stress, depression, and behavioral challenges. I am an Adlerian counselor, who utilizes CBT and Solution Focused Techniques. I will be more than happy to answer any questions about what any or all of those terms means. My goal is to create, nurture, and maintain strategic working alliances to take the mystery out of counseling. I want you to understand your own process of healing. Therefore, I empower you throughout your counseling journey as you make meaningful changes. I don't consider myself the expert of your life, YOU are! I am here to clinically and professionally facilitate change. I do not subscribe to the sick-theory, rather I view my clients as "discouraged." I advocate, encourage and empower those that I work with towards emotional health. My goal is to assist you in working towards regaining a new perspective on life. In addition to therapy, I also own a film development company with my husband.
